My new Obssession!

Neil Patrick Harris is the newest love of my life. I watched all the seasons of How I Met Your Mother in 2 weeks, which I think is pretty darn impressive. Oh, I also made my family watch some episodes too, so now none of us can get enough!

I understand that he has a boyfriend, but that does not stop me from having ridiculous dreams about that beautiful man. Oh, and on my bucket list, one of my bullet points is to turn NPH straight, so I'm workin on it. But I also just ran into the wonderful world of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog! How great is this?! The whole video is here if you wanna watch it:
My favorite Song is On the Rise, Neil has a phenomenal voice!

Farm Aid 09

Jason Took this picture of all of us! Yay!
I'm the one behind the microphone :)
Photobucket

I had an absolutely superb weekend! I don't even know where to begin with this one.
Alright, well I'll just start off with my two favorite parts. One was seeing Garcia doing the Dynamo of Volition dance, classic! And then the other awesome thing was watching my grandma and grandpa bust a move and sing to Willie Nelson hits!

Photobucket

I finally got to meet the lovely Deborah Baatz and her fantastic sister! You guys rock, and I had a ton of fun hanging out with you before J came on! Stay fresh!
Ummm, John Mellencamp didn't sing Jack and Diane! What the eff mate? Me and Karl had a chat about this... I'm sure he's sick of this song, I realize that, but this is probably the only time I'm ever going to see him perform... sooooooo, yeah. Oh, and FYI kels, you still can't date Speck Mellencamp, it's illegal ;)
Photobucket
Oh, before the concert, when we were in line, I successfully taught yet another person how to juggle! It was awesome. And I was hula hooping, when some photographer from metromix st.louis came up to snap a shot of me, that was fun! The hippie hula hoopers though totally kicked my ass in coolness levels.

I later found out that three of my high school teachers were at this event, which cracks me up for some reason.
I just want to add that I have a beyond awesome family. My mom, sister, cousin, aunt, grandma, and grandpa accompanied me to the show. Oh, and this was MeeMaw's 3rd Mraz show! How exciting!

Chicago!!

I was so fortunate enough to be invited to go to Billy's LRC at Schubas this year by Miss Rikki! I had the time of my life! This was only the second time I'd ever been to the windy city, and I hope it's not my last. Such a gorgeous town, the architecture is phenomenal here! And we're staying at this hotel right on the lake, so we're by the proper venue in the morning ;) But anyways, Billy did an absolutely, hysterically perfect, and amazing set! And we even got to see some juggling and crazy antics in the mix. Sorry my picture quality is kinda shitty.
Photobucket
But among my favorites were 1982, Mayhem, Gangsta, and of course Fall Thru Glass! I was hoping for some Future, but I guess it's not the same without Jason. Rikki took control and got her groove on with White Girl, In a Soul Train Line lol that was pretty priceless.
Photobucket
Oh, I also met the beautiful Tomissa and Nicole whilst I was hangin out at the bar! And I am soooo thankful I did! Billy was kind enough to have two convos with me, and showed me his new ink!
BE LOVE!

Also, if you haven't heard Todd Carey yet, check that kid out, he's AMAZING! He's the happiest, nicest person you'll ever meet! Go see him on his Fall tour this year!
Gotta Be Next to You and Ain't Got Love are my faves right now!

Hollywood!

This was a really strange experience for me. Mostly the street performers. Like, I can't tell you how many Michael Jackson's we run into. Granted it was the day of his funeral, so I can see the merit.
This is fake Michael, real crowd of fans waiting in line.
Photobucket

Funny story, I was walking past the Chinese Theatre to meet my sister, and apparently that's where his star is. Check out this line!
Photobucket
So once I saw the cops, I immediately just thought, ummm, I need a picture. So I sorta, broke through the barriers, snapped a picture, and then got thrown out of the crowd by security. It was totally worth it.
Photobucket
The highlights of the Hollywood adventure was sitting under James Dean at McDonalds, meeting that really awesome family with the magazines, the Beatles Star, and obviously seeing Erica (mingle with the street performers. Apparently her, Edward Scissorhands, Marilyn Monroe, Spongebob Squarepants, and Jason go way back.)
Photobucket
Photobucket

After we were done being tourists, we got to check out Erica's apartment. It was really cute, she had all of her fashion designery things all over. Her roomie was really awesome, but I cannot for the life of me remember his name. I'll think about it and come back to you. James maybe. Anyway, his puppy though was sooo cute too. His name was colby I think.
So here he is!! Could he get any cuter?? The answer is no.

CALIFORNIA!!

Alright so continuing on with my awesome journey west!
Driving into San Diego was really quite a sight. There we're so many hills and houses! And they were beautiful houses. I love those terra cotta roofs or whatever they're called.
We got to San Diego and stayed in a park that was on one of the bays. It was fun stuff there, we went out to the beach at night and then in the morning, all of us went out again, but this time we got to show off our skillz!
Photobucket
Nathan was doing his cheerleading routine with me and Jack, both of whom were really quite terrified to perform in these acts. He kept flipping Jack backwards, and saltwater isn't the funnest thing to get up your nose apparently. We're not really used to this kind of water... but afterwards, it does feel like it kind of cleansed our senses. Oh, and we were also juggling on top of each other's shoulders, which drew quite a crowd.
Photobucket
Photobucket

Just like when we did that on St. Patrick's Day. That was one the best days actually. Picnic under the arch, doing tumbling and juggling... how much better does it get than that?
Okay, I'm getting off track. At the beach we saw some dude with a surfboard, and his daughter was catching some waves on her boogeyboard. Yeah, I got pretty jealous.
We spent the fourth of July here as well. We celebrated by taking a 5 hr tour of the USS Midway... kinda interesting, I think I saw Spock.
Photobucket
Ummm... I need to show you pictures from that day. Doesn't it look like My grandpa owns a walkman? And I love Jack!
Photobucket

We also roamed around the city and ended up eating at this awesome restaurant in Old Town. I had an avocado sandwich, yummy!
Photobucket
NBC was behind me!
So when night eventually fell upon us, we were on the beach checking out the fireworks of the community around us. We were pretty close to Sea World that night, so we were blessed to see their display of sky rockets. Fourth of July is my favorite holiday. I get to lie down in the grass, or sand, and just stare up at the sky, it's a good feeling.

Waiting for the Fireworks and Belting Bleedin Love!!
Photobucket

Photobucket
It took me forever to get a decent shot of a firework, but I think I managed at least one.
Photobucket

Okay, so that pretty much summed up my Fourth!

Talk to ya soon Love

Traveling the Countryside!

We left on the 28 of June.

Since I'm going off to Mizzou in the fall, I really wanted to take a big trip before I had to stay in Columbia for four years.  So my grandma agreed, bought an RV, and we headed westward to California.  But of course, we had to make some stops along the way.

 New Mexico-

Stopped at the visitors center for kinda  a ridiculous amount of time. Watched a little snippet of something about the alignment of the sun.  I got lost for awhile.  Oh, I also had a nasty encounter with a nettle for the first time.  Not very fun mind you.

Some awesome lady said I was beautiful, and had a beautiful family and gave me a really cute turquoise ankle bracelet.  It makes me happy that people are just naturally generous.  Then behind us, at a pavilion, there were lots of kids jammin out to Michael Jackson.  Pretty crazy.

Lady at sonic ordered a grape dr. pepper, maybe a southern thing, not too sure.  Oh, also the had some kind of like chili burger.

Arizona-

Well when I woke up today at like 1 in the morning, I saw that we had parked at the entrance to a petrified forest. Which is where we still are at 10 am, mountain time.

Grand canyon-

Much much bigger than I remembered.  We went to lots of different lookouts this time, and it literally looks different from every angle.  That night we decided to sleep outside under the stars.  Beware of coyotes!  I saw three shooting stars as well.  The sky was quite clear out in the middle of nowhere, away from all the city lights.

The next morning, I had the wonderful pleasure of seeing the sunrise at the Grand Canyon, it was grand.  My aunt said she was surprised no one clapped, I would have.  It was a pretty spectacular sight to behold, I highly recommend it to everyone.

Photobucket

This was also the day that we decided to get daredevily for some gnarly pics.  Kinda dumb idea, but no one got hurt.  We also hiked down the canyon a little ways.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Met some awesomely hot brazilian/Portuguese guy and asked if he wanted me to snap a pic of him and his lady friend.

I'm not going to get into San Diego quite yet because I am not yet there.

By the way, rv's aren't so bad.  Juggling isn't too hard in a moving vehicle.  But the only thing else we can really do is play apples to apples or card games, which is still fun.  Alright well I'm getting sleepy, so I'll post some more later!

Three Tragedies This Week

When Brian Williams announced that "The King of Pop died today", I got chills all over.  I first heard about the news via twitter, so I wasn't really sure what to believe.  Called my mom and grandma, who asked the hair stylist they were with, and sure enough, she said he had passed away.  Also, I was unaware of Farah Faucett's death as well.  It's just so crazy.  Then, Jason at the health food store was chatting with all of us about it.  I mentioned Ed McMahon, and he said that that's what old people do.  I guess he's right, but he's someone I really look up to .  Johnny's sidekick, I mean, come on, that's pretty awesome.  Conan and Jimmy both did little tributes for Ed on their shows, I believe on Monday.
Photobucket

I was unable to catch any of the clips of Michael Jackson today.  I guarantee you if I ever had the opportunity to see him perform, I would be like all those screaming girls who pass out and were taken away on gurneys.  He was crazy awesome, and I have nothing but respect and gratitude to give to him and his family.  I'll always keep that best of MJ cd close at hand.  Along with my Johnny Carson dvds!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-TZnNXXQrI

I'm not the most emotional of people, as I'm sure you know, so let's skip talking more on death and move on to some relaxation chatter.  This morning I got up and had a delightful breakfast of agave toast, a yummy peach, and a tall cool chocolate silk.

Oh, while dining on the deck, I finally finished reading the eleventh lemony snicket book.  Only two more to go.  Kinda sad though, that was like what, eight years of my life.  Other book reports and such kinda got in the way, don't judge.

Back to the spa.  Got a nice back massage, a pedicure, and a manicure.  Tipped in purple, kinda different, but it looks nice.  I had quite a giggle fest when the lady buffed my feet though.  So did Laura.

My car like went up in smoke today as I was getting off at Festus to meet grandma, pretty scary, smelled like fire.  LOL also on the highway, I noticed that this green Kia suv looked a lot like the one my aunt used to own, before she sold it to Zach.  Sure enough, caught up and who's behind the wheel other than our own Zachary.  I was honking and waving, nothing.  After like four times speeding and slowing down past him, I finally got his attention.  Pure confusion for about 8 seconds, then a kind smile and an enthusiastic wave.

Geez...you should see my sister.  She had a game today, and apparently she got mad and threw her helmet against the fence.  Well, it bounced back and the metal mask hit her above her eye.  There's a huge gash, and we thought she might need stitches, but she's freaking out and doesn't want to go to the hospital.  She also doesn't want there to be a scar, so she's pretty upset actually.  It was disgusting to look at, and hard to keep a straight face.  Especially lying about how it's not gonna leave that big of a scar.

Gotta wake up in the morning to deliver ads for sybergs again.  Lovely time at the park wednesday, we'll see what adventures we get into tomorrow.

I'll leave you with this awesome video of Jason and Billy playing two truths and a lie, which had me crying from laughing so hard.
salutations

Happy Birthday to Jason!

It's Jason's Birthday today, so I decided to celebrate it his way.  Or how I think he would approve lol.

All he wished for today, was that everyone be nice to everyone.  Sounds easy enough right?  I was so friendly to everyone on the road, at the mall, to all my friends and family.  His wish really was the contagiousness of kindheartedness, and I think that's pretty awesome.

I also continued with my healthy eating habits, thanks to some inspiration from the Trish's and J.  I had a peach and chocolate silk for breakfast today!  Yummy Yummy!

ADD moment: Tristan tweeted me right before I left for rafting last weekend!  That was so kind of her to take time for me.

Awwww....Erika made me feel super cool earlier today when she gave me some very kind comments on my ink, very nifty indeed.

I played my favorite game today, picture game!  Mine was Gypsy MC, needle on record line.

I really need to get that blend logo tee.

Back to the birthday boy.  The frequent blogs have been nice, old pics have been cracking me up.  At least we know that Jason will never turn into some stuck up celeb.  Where's the humor in that?
From Twitter, Tricia said he'll be taking it over when he gets back to the states...eeeee!!  haha, but for now, here's what J did on his B-Day:
Apparently kicked ass in Copenhagen, DK!
He pulled out All Dialed in, and Saturday in the Park.  I'm pretty jealous right now of anyone in attendance.
Oh, he said his shirt was too stanky for wear, so he signed it and gave it away.  What a sweet birthday gift!
Photobucket

I went running again today, well tonight.  I saw a bunny!!  lol lots of frogs and worms.  The stars were extra gorgeous outside.  Bella Luna!

Anyway, Happy Birthday buddy, have lots of ice cream and enjoy yourself.  Give your mom a high five for me!

Family Outing!

The deal was that my grandma was going to take me to get a tattoo of my choice for my 18th birthday. Well, the date kept getting pushed back until now, and more people wanted to join in. The more the merrier I figured. Soon it became a family outing. Coach Fortney thought we we're such an odd family when we told him we were all going to get tattoos together. He called it a "hillbilly outing." Which, whatever, I just wanted my ink. I was totally set on getting my song for a friend lyrics, but then, the night before, I kept reading and hearing the word gratitude, which was my other choice of a tat. I ended up deciding on that, because I also wanted the lyrics to match Laura's whenever she got hers. We went to Stephen's tattoo parlor in Perryville or something, it was a little sketchy, but whatever. My grandma went first, and didn't flinch at all. She got her Cardinals! Jami got a flore de le, my mom got our names, nathan got his last name, laura got last name, and I got gratitude. It was painful, but I now know that I can totally tolerate 11 words later in life. Oh, and I've decided that Laura and I are going to get our next tattoos on June 23, 2010 in honor of Jason. (He got his Be Love tattoo on my birthday, so it's only fair.) So anyway, we had a really fun time, and everyone's tattoos turned out really awesome. I was freaking out the entire time that mine was crooked, but it's most likely that the lines in my stomach aren't even. But keep in mind, this picture is definitely crooked as well. Anyway, I like that it isn't perfect because imperfections are like the coolest thing in the world to me. You might even say I'm grateful for them. The whole point of my tattoo isn't to show it off. It's to remind me of who I am and all the people in my life who make it so amazing. Also, every night before I go to sleep, I always play the, what I'm I thankful for? game. Also, it's my little way to honor Jason and the always awesome Beastie Boys!

Rekindling my Connections

I've been putting off running for awhile, but all the excuses have to be put to a stop.  It is no longer unbearable cold, so my mind has forced me to start up again.  The past three days it has been raining, which is cool, but somewhat dangerous.  It's nice to have that post rain smell in your nostrils while you are running, however, its tricky to run down those slick hills.

Today, I caught the scent of some interesting aromas.  I was kinda by coach Fortney's house when I glanced across the street.  I saw a man smoking outside while watching his dog in the lawn.  I didn't think too much of it until I breathed in through my nose.  He wasn't smoking a cigarette at all, that was some pure Mary Jane.  I'm pretty sure I giggled out loud, but it's not all that funny.  Maybe just the fact that it was a middle-aged man at nine o'clock in an Imperial subdivision that threw me off.  That wasn't the only strange thing about my run today.

As I walked out my door to start my jog, I saw three kids in the middle of the street.  They looked kinda sketchy so I started out going the opposite way.  I ended up running into them three more times over the course of my trip.  I don't really look up too much when I'm in the zone, so it came as a pretty big shock when 10 feet in front of me three kids were sitting in the middle of the sidewalk.   I also saw a cat, who didn't move when I passed it, some frogs, a dead snake, more cats, velma and steve, some more kids on the sewar, I think that's about it.

My ipod was particularly kind to me today.  I'm pretty sure my ipod has a mind of it's own, I should really give him a name.  I'll work on that, it has to be just right.  Oh, but I listened to Motley Crue to start with, then that went into Shiny Toy Guns, Landon Pigg, the Killers, We Are Scientists, Hillary Duff, umm Goo Goo Dolls, some other random awesome stuff, Tristan, then Jason came on as I was coming up to my house.  That always seems to happen.  And note to self, listen to the entire albums of Sawdust and Day and Age.  There are a few songs I heard today that I haven't listened to in their entirety, but they are bouncing.
Photobucket

I had to do a little sweet talking today.  On Saturday, I'm heading to Champaign Illinois to see Jason, and then Sunday I'm going to Madison as well.  However, my mother may not have been fully aware of the second show.  I may have told a little white lie in order for me to attend, but I am proud to report that there should be no suspicion of my whereabouts.  Alyssa is letting me borrow her camera, so I should be able to get some pretty decent pictures.  I hope I don't get too lost anywhere!

Jimmy Fallon was wonderful last night on Jay Leno.  I suppose that's why he had to take an entire week off of his own show.  I believe that he is trying to act a little too much like Mr. Johnny Carson...speaking of Johnny, I still want a tattoo for my idol.  ooo I'll name my iPod Carson!  or maybe storm, haha.  no Carson will do for now, the tattoo can wait.  Tina Fey on Jimmy Fallon is going to repeat tonight, so that'll be on in like five minutes, so I better hurry up because I need refill on my drink.

Ahhh!!  I still have to type up my senior will.  Oh, and it's senior skip day tomorrow, but I have someone important to see, and I can't skip anymore, they'll fail me, so no senior skippage for me.  Oh, and Shaun and I made prom court, so that was kinda exciting!
Photobucket
Ellen Schmittgens, Lindsey McCulley, Cassie McKean, Timmy Waltenberger, Andy Snyder, and Nate Barton also made the court with us, so we're in good company!

I actually kind of enjoyed doing that research stuff in Leech's class today.  It was interesting I think.  I want to write about utopias and allegorical satire, so I gotta remember that.

Barack Obama was at Fox High School yesterday, I wasn't chosen to go, but it's all good.  PJ left school to wait outside to see him.  He got me a cool pin though from the little get together, so thanks peaches!

Sidenote:  I really like Mike Bush and Brian Williams.  I hope they stay on the air forever!

This link work?   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9fkbF_1EGI
it's just a really awesome version of Wordplay that I don't want to lose.

Peace,

-Kayla

Cardinal's Opening Day

So my computer just crashed, and I had to retype all this from memory, so here goes nothing.

I had the honor of attending the Cardinal's Opener a few days ago.  It was quite a treat, even though we lost.  That was my 16th straight year going, except for last year due to the first year stadium crowds.  I got to go to the game the next day too with Eric, so that was fun.  Props to my grandparents, they are always exuding all their awesomeness constantly!  I can't recall exact words, but they just crack me up all the time.  It was ridiculously freezing by the way both days.  Don't worry we brought our covers and whatnot, I probably looked like a tiny eskimo.
Photobucket Not as much as Laura though I'm sure.  I also got to see the Wizard himself, Ozzie Smith for the Opening Day ceremonies.  I thought I saw Keith Hernandez and was freaking out, but it most definitely wasn't him.  Oh, I did manage to get some good pictures of Pujols and Adam Wainwright, who I got to see pitch again!  Loved it!  Oh, and my favorite Usher was there, yay for Randy and all his joyousness!PhotobucketPhotobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
PhotobucketThere's a ton more pictures of all these awesome peoples on my facebook and myspace, so go check them out if ya want somore.
I had a fantastic treat though after the game.  We went out to dinner for Nathan's birthday, to Rich and Charlie's, and who do I run into?  None other than aunt Deena, Uncle Jim, and Lindley!  I love those guys, such sweet people.  It's always fun to bump into them.  They apparently were also at the game earlier,  in box suites though.  Jim told me that he wanted to go to prom with me if I was still up for it.  He's such a goof, I love him.

The waitress we had did an odd little number.  When our drink order arrived, she was confused about which soda was the diet, so she proceeded to smell my mom's coke.  I was laughing to myself, but my mother was pretty disguisted with this.  She didn't say anything until the girl was out of earshot.  The spinomi, or however you spell it was awesome, Jack and Leelan didn't like it.  All in all, we had a lovely night with the fam.

Alright, It's one in the morning, I'm going to bed.
